Geometric Carvings
Geometry is the language that the Creative Force of Nature expresses itself in the physical world. For me, the pentagram is not merely a symbol, but rather an equation. While many can and do put symbolic meaning onto it and other geometrical forms, it has its own inherent significance that transcends human desire for meaning and symbolism. The pentagram is geometry based on the Phi ratio, the mathematics that are found throughout nature and the cosmos. In other words, it is a direct embodiment of the laws of Creation, regardless of what humans think about it. Because of this however, it is an ideal image to symbolize the nature-based spiritual and religious practices broadly described as Paganism or neo-Paganism today. It’s also really fun to draw and extrapolate images from the matrix that comes from the mathematics embedded in it. Similarly, other geometries that I enjoy carving into my work hold expressions that are the direct means by which Nature finds it’s place in my art.
